Job Description

Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer / Designer works directly with small teams to produce 3D models, drawings, and fabrication packages of custom equipment. Typical equipment includes containment systems (gloveboxes, hot cells, cleanrooms), material handling equipment, small-scale process piping & equipment, furnace systems, metal working systems (mills, lathes, rolling machines), and pressure vessels. This position requires advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling, drawing creation, and fabrication package development.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed design and engineering activities including preparation of component, subassembly, and main assembly Autodesk Inventor models; creation of detailed fabrication drawing packages; evaluation and selection of purchased components; development of detailed Bills of Materials; and completion of equipment datasheets.
  • Establish model structure and drawing tree architecture for distinct deliverables, maintaining file naming conventions and design file organization within Inventor.
  • Collaborate with project engineers to develop technical solutions that meet performance, safety, and fabrication requirements.
  • Provide checking and review support for design packages and fabrication drawings.
  • Ensure all design activities are conducted following regimented quality assurance and quality control procedures.
Required Experience:
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred, depending on experience.
  • Must demonstrate expert proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar PDM systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with other 3D systems (Creo, SolidWorks, or CATIA), 2D software (AutoCAD preferred), and Autodesk Revit is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven capability in the design of custom equipment and/or containment systems, including development of fabrication drawings, equipment datasheets, and design record documents.
  • Experience in the DOE and DOD market segments a plus; hands-on experience with the types of equipment listed above strongly preferred.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must have the ability to acquire a security clearance.
